Also known as SDS or sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) is a surfactant (foaming agent) that is used in household products such as toothpastes, shampoos, shaving foams and bubble baths for its thickening effect and its ability to create a lather. Despite internet spread rumours, SDS and related commercial products are not known or even suspected of causing any health problems. How many uses are in a toothpaste tube?
